In summary, Nexperia has introduced its VHC(T) and XC7 families as a good alternate source to the industry standard VHC(T) family. The VHC and XC7SH families include overvoltage tolerant inputs making the parts suitable for use in interfacing 5V systems to 3.3V applications, while the VHCT and XC7SET include low threshold inputs making these parts suitable for interfacing 3.3V systems to 5.0V systems. Also, the Nexperia VHC(T) and XC7 products are available in small footprint, leadless packages which will reduce the area of PCB required and eliminate bent lead and co-planarity issues in production processes. This will lead to greater efficiency of production lines and lower overall cost.
