MPM3698 Power Modules
Monolithic Power Systems scalable, 16 V, peak 120 A power module with PMBus and AVSBus
The MPM3698 power modules from Monolithic Power Systems is a fully integrated, single-peak 120 A or dual-peak 80 A + 40 A power module with PMBus and AVSBus. The device integrates a VR14-compatible, dual-loop, digital multi-phase controller, as well as three sets of driver MOSFETs and inductors.
Each phase of the MPM3698 can provide up to 40 A of peak current and 30 A of continuous current. The outputs of the three phases can be paralleled to provide up to 120 A of peak output current (IOUT) or 90 A of continuous IOUT. The MPM3698 is compatible with a 160 A rated power block module (the MPM3699) to provide a higher IOUT.
The PMBus interface enables flexible digital configurations and monitors key parameters. The MPM3698 provides on-chip non-volatile memory (NVM) to store and restore device configurations. Device configurations and fault parameters are easy to configure and monitor.
The MPM3698 features proprietary digital from MPS, a multi-phase nonlinear control scheme to provide ultra-fast transient response to load transients with a minimal number of output capacitors. With only one power loop control method for both steady state and load transient, the power loop compensation is very easy to configure.
The MPM3698 requires a minimal number of readily available, external components. It is available in a thermally enhanced BGA (15 mm x 30 mm x 5.18 mm) package.
